Philosophy for Children (P4C) Training Certification Program (56 Hours)

"Our training is conducted by our expert in this field.”

Training Hours: 56 hours
Requirements: Completion of a 4-year bachelor's degree in philosophy (Applicants without a 4-year bachelor's degree in philosophy cannot apply for this module).

The philosopher Prof. Dr. Matthew Lipman observed during his tenure at Columbia University that students lacked the ability to think creatively and critically, and as a result, had limited questioning skills. Through his research, he realized that the habit of thinking, if not cultivated at a young age, diminishes as one grows older. For this reason, he advocated for the introduction of philosophical thinking early in life to foster questioning, critical thinking, and creativity.

The practitioner of the "Philosophy for Children" (P4C) method is referred to as a "facilitator." The facilitator helps children develop their unique way of thinking. At the end of P4C training, children or individuals acquire certain thinking habits. These include:

  1. Creative Thinking
  2. Critical Thinking
  3. Collaborative Thinking
  4. Reflective Thinking
  5. Respect for Others' Thoughts

Through P4C training, children are taught skills such as engaging in dialogue, expressing ideas, presenting new thoughts, justifying their opinions, forming counterarguments, understanding reasoning and argumentation, considering diverse viewpoints, reaching conclusions collaboratively, discussion, reconciliation, cooperation, and tolerance.

P4C training is essential for all teachers and aspiring educators. A teacher who has mastered this method can integrate it into their teaching process or apply it in any educational setting. The program is designed for undergraduate students and spans 56 hours. The goal of the training is to instill creative, critical, reflective, and collaborative thinking skills in participants.
