Curriculum Topics

Day 1: Basic Concepts and Breed Selection
  • Fundamental differences and objectives between egg, meat, and ornamental poultry farming,
  • Popular commercial and local poultry breeds in Turkey,
  • Choosing the ideal poultry house location, floor and equipment planning, feeders and waterers,
  • General rules for poultry farming,
Day 2: Chick Care and Feeding
  • First-day chick care and transportation after hatching,
  • Heating methods for chicks and monitoring the ideal temperature,
  • Correct feed content and feeding criteria according to growth stages,
  • Providing clean water and the importance of water consumption.
Day 3: Egg and Meat Production Management
  • Increasing egg production with the correct light program and house temperature management,
  • Critical factors for fast growth and performance in broiler poultry farming,
  • Feed conversion rate (FCR) and daily weight gain tracking,
  • Feather shedding management in egg-laying hens,
Day 4: Biosecurity and Diseases
  • Applying poultry house hygiene, disinfection, and quarantine rules,
  • Common poultry diseases: Newcastle (Plague), Marek, Avian Cholera symptoms,
  • Preventive vaccination: Basic vaccination schedule and techniques for commercial and hobby farms,
  • Early detection of diseases and techniques to prevent spread,
Day 5: Organic and Free-Range Systems
  • Free-range and organic poultry farming standards and requirements,
  • Egg quality, fresh egg storage and packaging techniques,
  • Cost analysis and profitability in small-scale poultry businesses,
  • Marketing products and ways to add value,

Training Outcomes

  • Select the appropriate poultry breed based on the production goal.
  • Apply correct heating and feeding programs from chicks to adults.
  • Manage environmental conditions to increase egg and meat production.
  • Recognize basic disease symptoms and perform preventive vaccinations.
  • Learn hygiene and cost management in small-scale poultry farming.
  • Participants who attend 79% or more of the training will receive a university-approved participation certificate.
