Curriculum Topics

Day 1: Breed Selection and Farm Setup
  • Basic characteristics of cattle breeds according to purpose (dairy, meat, or dual-purpose),
  • Introduction to common cattle breeds in Turkey,
  • Selection of ideal barn location and differences between barn types (free/stall),
  • Critical elements in barn planning: Ventilation and floor management,
Day 2: Feeding Management and Ration Preparation
  • Importance of roughage and concentrate feed on animal health and productivity,
  • Basic feeding principles according to age and physiological stage (growth, lactation, dry period),
  • Practical ration preparation techniques and sample ration applications,
  • Water management and effect of clean water on productivity,
Day 3: Reproduction and Herd Management
  • Key signs for heat detection and determining the correct breeding time.
  • Proper breeding techniques and importance of pregnancy monitoring.
  • Critical care protocols before and after calving.
  • Strategies to increase calf survival rate.
Day 4: Disease Management and Biosecurity
  • Preventive veterinary practices: Establishing basic vaccination schedules,
  • Effective strategies for internal and external parasite control,
  • Early detection and prevention of mastitis, foot diseases, and digestive problems.
  • Farm biosecurity: Hygiene, disinfection, and quarantine rules,
Day 5: Record-Keeping, Welfare, and Profitability
  • Simple record-keeping and using digital systems for herd management,
  • Animal welfare: 5 freedom principles and stress reduction methods for profitable livestock farming,
  • Economic analysis: Preparing expense-income tables and ways to reduce costs,
  • Management decisions for a sustainable and profitable cattle operation,

Training Outcomes

  • Can select the correct cattle breed and design the ideal barn.
  • Can prepare basic rations suitable for the animal's physiological stage.
  • Can track reproductive cycles in the herd and increase productivity.
  • Can recognize common diseases, establish vaccination schedules, and apply preventive veterinary practices.
  • Can analyze the profitability of the operation at a basic level and ensure animal welfare.
  • Participants attending 79% or more of the training will receive a university-approved participation certificate.

The training is open to corporate collaborations (institution/company packages) and individual applications are not accepted. The training content can be adjusted according to the corporate participant profile and needs. Following mutual discussions, the scope and method of the training (Face-to-Face, Online) are determined and the related processes completed. If agreed, the schedule, dates, and venue for the training with your participants and our instructors are arranged accordingly.
