What is the Expedited Trial Procedure?

The Expedited Trial Procedure is a judicial process offered to suspects in minor offenses during the investigation conducted by the public prosecutor. If the suspect accepts the offer:

  • The case file is quickly referred to the court,
  • The judge conducts a brief hearing and delivers the verdict,
  • The sentence is reduced,
  • The process is generally completed on the same day or within a very short time.

In this sense, the Expedited Trial Procedure is a fast, effective, and practical method of criminal prosecution.
