The Mediator Renewal Training is a mandatory program required periodically by the Ministry of Justice for active mediators to keep their knowledge and implementation skills up to date. The newly enacted Mediator Regulation has introduced a significant adjustment to the participation requirements, making the renewal training available only to law school graduates.
The aim of this change is to strengthen the level of legal knowledge in mediation processes and to establish a more holistic standard in practice. From now on, those eligible to participate in the renewal training are determined only as:
as specified.
Changes Introduced by the New Regulation
With the 2025 regulation, individuals who graduated from different departments such as sociology, psychology, communication, or public administration but became mediators in previous years are no longer eligible to participate in renewal training. Renewal training has become mandatory only for law graduate mediators registered in the registry to maintain their status.
What is Covered in the Training?
The renewal program covers current legislative changes, problems encountered in practice, negotiation techniques, communication skills, and up-to-date case analyses. At the end of the training, participants receive the renewal certificate necessary to continue their terms of office.
Why is Renewal Training Mandatory?
As the field of application in criminal disputes expands, it is of great importance for mediators to master current legislation and techniques. This training is conducted at regular intervals to both increase efficiency in the process and enhance party satisfaction.
