How to Become a Mediator?
The first requirement to become a mediator is to be a Turkish citizen. In Turkey, one must be a graduate of a law faculty, or if graduated from a law faculty abroad, the candidate must complete the missing courses and obtain equivalency. Additionally, the candidate must not have received a sentence of more than one year according to the provisions of Article 53 of the Turkish Penal Code No. 5237. Candidates must have at least five years of professional experience in their field and must not have any connection or affiliation with terrorist organizations.
Candidates who meet these requirements can complete the basic mediation training. Those who successfully pass the exam conducted by the Ministry and are registered in the Mediators’ Registry by the Mediation Department can officially become mediators.
