Sustainability Training in the Agriculture and Food Sector in the Process of Compliance with the European Union Green Memorandum

Purpose of the training: With the introduction of the regulations specified in the European Union Green Memorandum, adaptation to climate change will be explained, which will focus on new strategies in the agriculture and food sector. In addition, the ways to be followed during the preparation phase and the adaptation process and what should be done by the sector against the pending risks will be discussed.

This intensive program will help participants develop basic business strategies and processes and will allow them to establish a successful agricultural and food business or expand the existing business.

The Target Audience of the Training: Stakeholders involved in the Agriculture and Food Sector, undergraduate and graduate students, all parties who want and are interested in having knowledge about sustainable agricultural production.

Training Method: The training is planned online.

Training Quota: Minimum 15, maximum 30 people  

Training Time: 44 hours

Module 1: Sustainable Development Goals Paris Climate Agreement, European Union Green Accord and Sectoral Impacts

-The process of moving sustainability to the world agenda

-The content of the sustainable development goals and indicators

-Developments in the world related to the climate crisis and the climate adaptation process, agreements made, provisions of the agreement, the European Green Agreement and its components, the carbon regulation mechanism at the border and its sectoral effects

Module 2: Agriculture and Food Sector within the Scope of Sustainability in the World and in Turkey

-Sustainable agriculture understanding, definition, principles and objectives

-Examples of applications related to sustainable agriculture

-The development and examples of sustainable agriculture in the world

-The development and examples of sustainable agriculture in Turkey

Module 3: Sustainability in crop production

This module will be evaluated under the main headings of Horticulture and Field Crops.

Garden Plants

-The place and importance of Garden Plants (Vegetables and Fruits) in human nutrition

-Possible effects of climate change on horticultural production

-Correct and effective use of agricultural inputs in horticultural production

-Protection of genetic resources in garden plants

-Cultural practices in sustainable production of garden plants

-Increasing the quality, productivity and sustainability of fruits and vegetables

-The value chain in the production of sustainable horticultural crops (pre-harvest, harvest and post-harvest

applications)

Field Crops

-The place and importance of field plants in human and animal nutrition

-Possible effects of climate change on field crop production

- The correct and effective use of agricultural inputs in the production of field crops and the protection of natural resources

-Ways to increase product quality and productivity in field crops and sustainability

-The importance and uses of medicinal and aromatic plants

-The effects of climate change on the production and quality of medicinal and aromatic plants

-Collection and sustainability of medicinal and aromatic plants from nature

-Principles of sustainability in the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants

Module 4: Sustainability in Animal Production

-The importance of farm animals in nutrition

-The place of breeding systems (intensive and extensive) in the future of animal production

-Effects of climate change on animal production and adaptation strategies

-Integration of animal husbandry activities into the environment and society (Biodiversity and ecosystem

protection)

-Socio - economic relationship (Business opportunities, traditional products and a viable Sunday)

-Animal based foods, sustainability and responsible consumption

-Shaping the future of animal husbandry

Module 5: Sustainable Food Production Systems

-The concept of sustainable food production

Module 6: Sustainable Soil Management

- Definitions and concepts related to sustainable soil management, soil health and importance

Module 10: Ecologically Based Planning for Sustainable Landscape Areas

-Landscape, urban and rural landscape areas, ecology, landscape ecology, ecosystem, etc. explanation of the relationship of concepts together with the concept of sustainability

-Defining concepts such as planning hierarchy, landscape planning, ecological planning, ecologically based planning in landscape areas, landscape inventory, landscape elements

-Climate change, pressures caused by intensive use in landscape areas, etc. identification of emerging problems

-Discussion of ecologically based planning approaches in landscape areas and solutions developed to make urban and rural landscape areas sustainable

The Process of Education:

  • The training will be broadcast live simultaneously over the Internet.
  • In order to participate in the training, you must have internet access and a suitable internet package in your current environment.
  • In order for the educational system to be used,camera and microphone equipment have been introduced, a device that can connect to the Internet(smartphone, tablet and preferably computer) is needed.
  • Participants will log in to the system with their cameras and microphones turned on together with our instructor who provides the training during the specified lesson hours.
  • User names and passwords will be sent to the participants' e-mails before the training starts.
  • After the trainings are completed, the system will be kept open for participants for another 7 days. By the end of the seventh day at 23:00, the system will be completely shut down.
  • In order to help us during the training period, a whatsapp group will be created in the form of sending messages only to the administrator, and all kinds of support information will be shared by the administrator during the lesson period. Participants have all kinds of questions and problems usem@uludag.edu.tr they can write to our address. The mail will be followed up instantly during the training.

Important Information:

  • Certificates are issued for participation of 80% and above of the total training period. for participation of 79% and below, no documents will be issued. 
  • After the completion of the training period, certificates will be issued after the controls belonging to our institution and will be sent to the addresses you entered at the time of registration with PTT Cargo. Your address and contact information must be up-to-date.

  • Application for education and paying the tuition fee are made via the Internet. Installment payments cannot be paid on the participants' bank credit cards.
