Training Objective

Jewelry making refers to the activity of shaping valuable and non-valuable metals and non-metals to create a work of art using techniques that have developed from the past to the present. In this training, you will learn how to design and manufacture rings using traditional techniques in a jewelry workshop. This workshop will provide a broad scope, where you can gain knowledge and vision about metalworking, and improve your manual dexterity.

Program Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will have the following knowledge and skills:

• Identification of metals frequently used in jewelry making, preparation of silver alloys, and silver alloy calculations.
• Identification and usage of traditional tools and equipment used for ring making in a jewelry workshop.
• Measuring ring size.
• Shaping wires and sheets.
• Cutting and drilling wires and sheets.
• Metal filing.
• Final finishing of the product with polishing and buffing.

• Module 5: Information on Annealing and Rolling with a Mill, and Introduction to Materials Used
• Module 6: Introduction to Tools for Wire and Sheet Shaping, Bending and Practice
• Module 7: Information on Metal Cutting and Drilling, Introduction to Tools, and Hands-on Practice
• Module 8: What is Hammering? Introduction to Tools and Hands-on Practice
• Module 9: Introduction to Tools Used for Filing Jewelry and Hands-on Practice
• Module 10: Introduction to Materials and Equipment for Polishing and Buffing, Hands-on Practice
• Module 11: Finalizing the Ring
• Module 12: Entrepreneurship and Communication

Participants will gain theoretical and practical experience in learning the stages of ring making, one of the most common jewelry items.

The training is open to institutional collaborations (package for institution/company legal entities), and individual applications are not accepted. The training content can be reorganized according to your institutional participant profile and needs. As a result of mutual discussions, the scope and method of the training (face-to-face / online) are determined and the relevant processes are completed. In case of mutual agreement, the date, time, and location of the training are planned in line with the availability of your institution’s participants and our instructors.
