Program Objective

Jewelry making refers to the process of shaping precious/non-precious metals and non-metal materials into artistic pieces using techniques that have been evolving over time. In this training, you will learn how to create precious jewelry by applying traditional techniques in the jewelry workshop. With a broad content, this course will allow you to gain knowledge and vision in design, metalworking, soldering, polishing, and finishing, and will help you develop your dexterity. Additionally, you will gain theoretical knowledge on communication and entrepreneurship.

Program Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will acquire the following knowledge and skills:

  • Recognition of commonly used metals in jewelry, silver alloy preparation processes, and silver alloy calculations
  • Familiarity with and use of traditional tools and equipment in the jewelry workshop
  • Wire and sheet shaping
  • Cutting and drilling of wires and sheets
  • Metal filing
  • Annealing and soldering metals together
  • Setting techniques (claw setting, prong setting)
  • Polishing and finishing the product

Program Content

  • Module 1 - General information about jewelry making and the jewelry workshop
  • Module 2 - Information about commonly used metals in jewelry making
  • Module 3 - Information about metal alloy preparation and calculation methods
  • Module 4 - Metal cutting Level 1 (Using a jeweler's saw, straight cutting)
  • Module 5 - Metal cutting Level 2 (Geometric shape cutting)
  • Module 6 - Metal drilling and introduction to tools and hands-on practice
  • Module 7 - Product design and modeling related to the item to be made - Example work
  • Module 8 - Information on annealing, rolling with a roller, and introduction of materials used - Example work
  • Module 9 - Wire and sheet shaping, bending and introduction to tools used for bending, and hands-on practice
  • Module 10 - What is hammering, introduction of tools used and hands-on practice
  • Module 11 - Soldering metals together - Example work 1, 2, 3
  • Module 12 - Introduction to tools used for jewelry filing and hands-on practice
  • Module 13 - Introduction to precious and semi-precious stones
  • Module 14 - Stone setting techniques (bezel setting, prong setting), example works
  • Module 15 - Introduction to materials and tools used in polishing and finishing, hands-on practice
  • Module 16 - Entrepreneurship and Communication

Training Requirements

The necessary tools and equipment for the above-mentioned applications include: saw, various sizes of saw blades, files, pliers, metal shears, various sizes of sandpaper, metal plates, wires, and semi-precious stones for practical applications.

The training is open to institutional cooperation (for legal entities such as institutions/companies), and individual applications are not accepted. The training content can be reorganized according to the profile and needs of the institutional participants. After mutual discussions, the scope and method of the training (Face-to-Face, Online) will be determined, and the relevant processes will be completed. Once an agreement is reached, the suitable days and times for your institution's participants and our instructors will be determined, and the training location will be set.
