Program Description
According to Decision No. 36 dated 26/05/2014 of HADMEK, it has been determined that the Animal Use Certificate Training Program organized by HADYEKs shall consist of the courses and educational objectives listed in Annex 1. The program aims to provide researchers with both theoretical knowledge—such as legislation, ethical principles, anatomy, physiology, histology, and biochemistry of laboratory animals—and practical training, including animal diseases, care, feeding, breeding, basic and specific experimental models, and procedures applied in experiments.
Program Objectives
The aim of this program is to ensure that individuals involved in scientific research, testing, healthcare practices, education, and publications using laboratory animals are competent to apply ethical standards regarding the use of methods and materials, and are qualified to work in accordance with ethical principles.
Participant Profile
Category A – Researchers: Individuals who perform procedures on animals.
Documents and Requirements for Registration
Participants applying for Category A must have at least an undergraduate degree.
Training Venue
- Theoretical Sessions: Delivered online (asynchronous). Attendance will be monitored electronically, and participants must meet the minimum 80% attendance requirement.
- Practical Sessions: Conducted at BUU Faculty of Medicine Laboratory Animal Breeding and Research Unit (DENHAB).

Evaluation Criteria
At the end of the course, participants will take a 25-question exam. To successfully complete the program, participants must achieve a minimum score of 70 out of 100. Those who fail may re-enroll in the program. Participants who meet the attendance and success criteria as stated in the regulation will receive a “Laboratory Animal Use Certificate.”
