Curriculum Topics

Day 1: Basic Concepts and Breed Selection
  • Key differences and purposes of egg, meat, and ornamental poultry
  • Characteristics of popular commercial and local chicken breeds in Turkey
  • Selection of ideal coop location, flooring, equipment, feeders, and drinkers
  • General poultry farming rules
Day 2: Chick Care and Feeding
  • First-day care and transportation of chicks after hatching
  • Heating methods for chicks and monitoring ideal temperature
  • Appropriate feed composition and nutrition for growth stages
  • Clean water supply and importance of water consumption
Day 3: Egg and Meat Production Management
  • Correct light program and coop temperature to increase egg production
  • Critical factors for fast growth and performance in broiler production
  • Feed conversion rate (FCR) and daily weight gain tracking
  • Feather shedding management in laying hens
Day 4: Biosecurity and Diseases
  • Implementing coop hygiene, disinfection, and quarantine rules
  • Common poultry diseases: Newcastle, Marek's, Fowl Cholera symptoms
  • Preventive vaccination: basic vaccination schedules and techniques for commercial and hobby coops
  • Early disease detection and preventing disease spread
Day 5: Organic and Free-Range Systems
  • Standards and requirements for free-range and organic poultry farming
  • Egg quality, storing fresh eggs, and packaging techniques
  • Cost calculation and profitability analysis for small-scale farms
  • Marketing products and creating added value

Training Outcomes

  • Can select the appropriate chicken breed for the production purpose
  • Applies correct heating and feeding program from chick to adulthood
  • Manages environmental conditions to increase egg and meat yield
  • Recognizes basic disease symptoms and performs preventive vaccination
  • Learns hygiene and cost management in small-scale poultry farming
  • Participants who attend 79% or more receive a university-approved participation certificate

This training is open for institutional collaboration (for companies/institutions), individual applications are not accepted. The training content can be re-planned according to institutional participant profiles and needs. The scope and method of the training (Face-to-Face, Online) are determined after mutual discussions. With agreement, training dates and location are arranged with your institution's participants and instructors.
