Training Content

SECTION 1: SOLID MODELING

Fusion 360 Interface & File Management

  • Introduction to Fusion 360 and the logic of cloud-based working
  • Interface overview: Data Panel, Toolbar, Browser, Timeline
  • Creating a new project, saving files, exporting/importing
  • Mouse shortcuts and navigation (pan, zoom, rotate)

Basic Sketching

  • Creating a sketch and selecting a sketch plane
  • Line, rectangle, circle, arc, and polygon commands
  • Dimensioning (Sketch Dimension)
  • Geometric constraints (Horizontal, Vertical, Coincident, Parallel, Perpendicular, Tangent)
  • Fully constrained sketch (blue → black)

Basic Solid Modeling Commands

  • Extrude – Extrusion, cutting, creating recesses, start/end conditions
  • Revolve – Revolving around an axis
  • Sweep – Sweeping along a path
  • Loft – Creating a transitional model between two profiles
  • Hole – Holes (simple, countersunk, threaded hole)
  • Fillet & Chamfer – Filleting and chamfering

Editing & Utility Commands

  • Shell – Hollowing out
  • Pattern – Circular and rectangular patterns
  • Mirror – Mirroring
  • Combine – Join, cut, intersect
  • Construct – Creating axes, planes, and points

Practical Application: Modeling a simple flange or prismatic part (including holes, cut features, and patterns)

SECTION 2: 2D-3D CAM

Introduction to the CAM Environment & Job Setup

  • Switching to the Manufacture (CAM) workspace
  • Introduction to the tool library (end mill, ball end mill, drill, etc.)
    • Creating a Setup: Work coordinate system (WCS) – Model / Stock,
    • Defining stock (raw material) – Relative box, fixed box, solid body
  • Operation structure: Tool, Geometry, Heights, Passes, Linking

2D-Based Machining

  • 2D Contour – Running the tool along an edge
  • 2D Pocket – Pocket machining
  • Drilling – Hole drilling (G81, G83 cycles)
  • Adaptive Clearing – 2D roughing (high-rate material removal)

3D Roughing Strategies

  • 3D Adaptive Clearing – Efficient trochoidal roughing, stock allowance, stepover, stepdown, smoothing, rest machining
  • Pocket (3D) – Three-dimensional pocketing

3D Finishing Strategies

  • Parallel – Surface finishing (changing the angle)
  • Scallop – Finishing with a constant stepover
  • Contour (3D) – Constant-height contours
  • Spiral / Radial – Circular surface finishing
  • Pencil – Cleaning concave radii
  • Ramp - Free-form surfaces

Simulation, Verification & Post-Processing

  • Simulation – Roughing/finishing simulation and material removal
  • Collision & Gauge Check – Machine/holder collision control
  • Post Process:
    • Selecting the correct post processor (Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, etc.)
    • Generating NC code output
  • Reviewing the program structure (G-code fundamentals)

Project: A complex 3D part (for example, a mold core or decorative part)

  • Defining the setup
  • 3D Adaptive (roughing)
  • Parallel + Scallop (finishing)
  • Simulation and post-processing
  • Machining on a CNC milling machine
    • Generating NC code output
    • Clamping the part to the machine
    • Defining the workpiece zero point
    • Transferring CNC codes to the machine and manufacturing the part

Training Method: Face-to-face – Hands-on application using the software

Training Duration: 18 Hours

The training is available for corporate collaborations as a package for legal entities such as institutions and companies; individual applications are not accepted. The training content may be redesigned according to the profile and needs of your corporate participants. Following mutual discussions, the scope and delivery method of the training (face-to-face / online) are determined and the relevant processes are completed. Once an agreement is reached, the date, time, and location of the training are planned according to the availability of your institution’s participants and our academic staff.
