12-Hour Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Basic Training for Interns
Legal Basis
According to the “Regulation on Procedures and Principles of Occupational Health and Safety Trainings for Employees” published in the Official Gazette No. 28648 on May 15, 2013, it is mandatory for employees to receive occupational health and safety (OHS) training based on the hazard class of their workplace.
Training and Certification Process
In cases where the certificate needs to be urgently obtained, a request can be made via email after completing the training. Normally, certificates are reflected on the e-Government system approximately one week after the completion date of the training.
Legal Regulation and Distance Learning Principle
According to Article 12 of the relevant regulation:
“Except for initial basic trainings provided at the workplace, repeat basic trainings for employees can be delivered using distance learning if the employer prepares content specific to the job and workplace and provides the necessary online training management system.”
Eligibility
Intern students who will work in hazardous sectors (e.g., automotive industry)
Interactive Online Training – Renewal Program
Through distance OHS training, employees can complete renewal trainings via interactive training presentations. Comprehensive training materials prepared according to hazard classes are available in the online training system.
Training Duration and Hazard Class Regulations
- Low-risk workplaces: Minimum 8 hours
- Hazardous workplaces: Minimum 12 hours
- High-risk workplaces: Minimum 16 hours
The organized training program is prepared for hazardous and high-risk workplaces and consists of 12- and 16-hour content.
Training Topics and Frequency
Trainings include topics such as occupational health and safety legislation, risk factors, emergency management, personal protective equipment, prevention of occupational accidents, and employees’ rights and responsibilities.
Trainings should be repeated periodically based on emerging risks and changing conditions:
- High-risk class: At least once a year
- Hazardous class: At least once every two years
- Low-risk class: At least once every three years
Distance Learning Guidelines
This training program has been prepared in accordance with the provisions of the “Regulation on Procedures and Principles of Occupational Health and Safety Trainings for Employees” and its amendments.

Training Process
The training is conducted online asynchronously. To participate, you must have internet access and a suitable internet package. A device with a camera and microphone (smartphone, tablet, preferably computer) is required. Participants can access the training portal anytime during the training period. Login credentials are sent directly to participants’ emails. Participation is mandatory. Participants scoring 70 or above on the final test will receive a certificate. OHS Basic Training Certificates are issued according to the regulation.
