Training Purpose

The writing workshop is a process of sharing experience. This workshop guides those who wish to embark on the journey of writing children’s books. Writing for children requires addressing the world of the target audience. Participants will learn the techniques to properly address children's imaginative world while gaining knowledge on how to select the right children’s books.

The workshop will be led by Yasemin Erbek, a writer, editor, and writing coach, along with Prof. Dr. A. Kadir Çüçen, an expert in Philosophy for Children (P4C).

Program Outcomes

• Learn appropriate language and narrative techniques for children's books
• Effectively convey themes and messages in children's books
• Create age-appropriate characters and story structures
• Understand the role and benefits of Philosophy for Children (P4C) in children's stories

Training Content

• Week 1:
• What is writing, and why do I want to write?
• What should we pay attention to in children’s stories?
• Week 2:
• Character creation in children’s stories
• Ensuring unity of place, time, space, and character
• Children's stories for different age groups
• Week 3:
• Philosophy for Children (P4C)
• The role and benefits of P4C in children’s stories
• Facilitator – Writer – Narrator
• Stimulus, learning gap, inquiry, concept map
• Week 4:
• Reading and evaluating completed draft stories

Training Process

• The training will be conducted live online.
• Participants need a suitable internet connection and device (smartphone, tablet, or computer) to participate.
• Participants will log in to the system with the instructor at the specified times.
• Username and passwords will be sent via email before the training begins.
• After the training, participants will have 7 more days of system access.
• Only the administrator can send messages during the training. Information will be shared via the WhatsApp group.

Important Information

• Certificates will be issued for participants who attend 80% or more of the training. No certificate will be issued for participants with 79% or less attendance.

• After the completion of the training, certificates will be prepared and sent via PTT Cargo to the addresses provided during registration. Please ensure your address and contact information is up-to-date.

• Participants can send any questions or issues to usem@uludag.edu.tr. Emails will be monitored during the training.

• Applications and payments for the training are made online. Installment options are not available for credit card payments.
